Digital content expert. TV producer. Media strategist. Travel editor... 

 

Just a few of the hats I've worn - often at the same time - during my 14 year media career.

 

From my native UK, through the heady Middle East, to beautiful Sydney; my passion for creating world-class content has taken me across the globe.

 

Kicking off my career as a features writer for a portfolio of lifestyle and business titles, I quickly progressed to a section editor role 12 months later.

 

Not being one to rest on my laurels - and after recognising a gap in the market for a PR professional with genuine media experience - I went part-time to launch my own consumer PR, editorial and copywriting agency, which ran successfully for over two years.

 

However, my passion for lifestyle magazines won out, and I was soon lured to the bright lights of Dubai by the largest publishing house in the Middle East to work on the UAE's highest-selling celebrity magazine.

 

Less than a year later, I was approached by an international media organisation to launch several new consumer titles, including a glossy women's weekly and the world's first high-end men's style and lifestyle weekly.

 

As head of lifestyle, I recruited all staff, directed the design team on page layouts, set up the photography studio, oversaw budgets and implemented day-to-day operational procedures.

 

After 2.5 years - and with the GFC hitting Dubai hard - it was time to leave the desert. With an array of travel writing commissions under my belt, I set off with my backpack and laptop in tow for a six-month solo jaunt around North America, before ultimately settling in Sydney at the beginning of 2010 - a city I now call home.

 

From the get-go, I picked up ad hoc and projects work for some of the biggest mastheads and digital organisations in the country, producing content covering everything from travel and celebrity to fashion and grooming.

 

But with the clock ticking on my temporary visa, I quit life as a freelancer for a permanent position - and a sponsorship visa! - accepting a role within News Corp, where I managed all digital entertainment and lifestyle content for the Daily Telegraph.

 

Here verticals in my remit included travel, Sydney Confidential, entertainment and fashion. I was responsible for creating original content (both video and written), re-packaging stories, developing a social media and PR strategy to work in tandem with our online offering and overseeing page re-designs for increased user functionality. One year on, I was given the opportunity to add yet another string to my bow: television.

 

Headhunted by Channel 7, I was asked to take on a senior producer role overseeing entertainment across the highest-rating morning show in the country. Eighteen months later and I was part of the launch team for what would become an afternoon time slot success story, The Daily Edition.

 

Working across two daily live shows, I've produced in excess of 300 hours of TV, spanning entertainment, travel, celebrity interviews and music performances, both in-studio and out in the field. Securing exclusives with some of the most famous faces in the world.

 

Six-plus years on from my arrival in Sydney and I'm an Australian citizen. And one that can boast one of the best contacts books in the biz, in addition to a bona fide pan-media background, which encompasses experience within digital, TV, magazines and newspapers, across some of the biggest brands in the world.
